The Realm of Perpetual Dawn
My personal favorite setting, The Edge is one of a kind even amongst the various different climates seen throughout the different worlds that make up the 8 realms.
Described in the story from Arthur Regalia’s perspective: “It was as if this Realm was frozen in perpetual dawn; the sky benevolently welcoming a sunrise that would never come…..The dawn sky stretched out into infinity, as hundreds of thousands of floating islands dotted the sky into the horizon like clouds. Massive rainbows stretched from the islands that spouted water, and in the far distance, a bright white light could be seen over a massive city.”
Home to three major families of Royals, The Atalantus, The Zircona, and The Loston families. The Atalantus serve as the primary physical might, with their adult men growing well over two feet larger than an Oshaide. The Atalantus’s primary foot-soldier is known as a Runner, and they are known to gain power through movement.
The Zirconas are the potion makers of the Realms- providing potions that are known to wipe fatigue, allowing the Atalantus Runners to move faster for longer.
Finally, the Lostons are the seers of the Realms. With the ability to glimpse into the future, they allow the Runners to be allocated effectively to stem any issues that may arise.
The Edge is ruled by the matriarch of the Atalantus clan- a woman known as The Edge Mother. Together with the other families they govern the Realm almost completely independent of The Founder.
The Edge is the final realm before The Void- which serves as the barrier against Black Haven. As such, the three families here are tasked with protecting all of the Realms from the Demon Kin, and as such when working together, they are a formidable powerhouse- enough to make Tyrannus Regalia deem it necessary to distract them from his Coup.
The many islands floating in the sky of The Edge experience a phenomenon known as “The Edge Fall” in which the islands rise and fall from their place in the sky. This Is a rite of passage for the Atalantus Runners, as they need to learn how to navigate the Edge Fall in order to get from one island to another without falling from the sky.
There are several animals that are bred by the Royals, and one is specifically used for Realm wide transport through The Edge. The Bilhawk is a giant bird created through the intervention of the Atalantus and Zircona families which is powerful enough to carry two full grown adults on its back. The Royals of The Edge use these birds to travel great distances quicker than they’re able to run.
The capital city of The Edge is known as Tollawikan (Toll-ah-wee-kahn), and is the primary place of residence for almost all Royals of The Edge. At the center of the city is the gate to The Void- the “bright white light” that is seen over the massive city. The Edge is where The Founder finally triumphs over The Ruin, and seals him away forever, by ripping apart his own soul to create The Void. As such, it was originally thought that The Void was impenetrable, that is until Tyrannus’s rebellion, where somehow they managed to bypass The Void, and invade Tollawikan with the forces of Black Haven.
