The Area Between

Purgatory is the largest of the Realms, as well as the most paradoxical. There is no extensive description of Purgatory available because of the fact that it is not supposed to be conceptualized.

This Realm serves as a barricade between the Ascended Realms and the Mortal Realm, but has become a thriving civilization nonetheless.

Described from The Founder’s perspective as “…the surrounding world was from a dream.  It held a strange form, and in some places defied logic.  For some reason it felt as though I was in a cavern underground, yet there was still substantial light to observe as far as my eyes would let me.” This realm was conceptualized during its creation using The Figure as an inspiration, which meant that it was just almost real, yet never quite complete, much like The Generator it was created after.

Two major families of Royals live in the capital of Purgatory- Elacina. The first being the Regalia Clan, and the second being the Hearthrite family. The Hearthrites are subservient to the Regalias, and as such the latter holds absolute power over the realm and its inhabitants.

The Regalias are deeply ingrained in the history of Purgatory, as it is the Realm where Maximillian Regalia makes the deal with The Founder to be bestowed with their Soul Rights- allowing for The War of Being to tilt in their favor before ultimately being won. This realm serves as a pivotal moment in the history of the Realms, as it was where the Pillars were established. (For more information on the Pillars, check out their respective pages.)

The Realm was ceded to the Hearthrite family following Tyrannus Regalia’s revolt, and is now being reformed to be more welcoming and tolerant of outsiders.
